“As a type 1 diabetic, I’m dependent on daily insulin. I was driving home and realized my blood sugar was getting low. I pulled over to check it, but passed out before I could. Luckily, someone called an ambulance. EMTs saw my MedicAlert ID and understood right away this was a diabetic emergency. MedicAlert saved my life that day.”

“I was backpacking in the Colorado wilderness when I succumbed to high altitude sickness. I had to be rescued by helicopter. I was non-responsive but wearing my MedicAlert bracelet. Frank Challant
Frank has been part of the MedicAlert family for more than 54 years—ever since a routine penicillin injection, given when he was a college student, unexpectedly turned into a life-threatening emergency. That frightening experience led Frank to discover MedicAlert, and he knew right away he never wanted to face an emergency without his medical information close at hand.
“MedicAlert is my best defense against my life-threatening allergy,” Frank says. “If I ever go into anaphylactic shock again, my medical ID will communicate exactly what I’m allergic to—the very information that can save my life sits on my wrist. You can’t beat that!”
Frank went on to live a full and inspiring life, including a memorable career as an athletic trainer for the Boston Celtics, complete with two championship rings. Through every chapter, MedicAlert has remained a trusted companion, offering peace of mind and protection.
