This season of giving, we’re thinking about the Power of One.

One act of generosity, one donor, one impact, creates a lasting difference that protects and saves lives.

The team at MedicAlert is so grateful for you and your ongoing financial support. Your donations fund our 24/7 emergency support team, provide free MedicAlert protection to people in need, and support our Safe and Found™️ program for people with Alzheimer’s, dementia, and autism.

We couldn’t do these things without you. Every gift you make – no matter the amount – transforms lives.

This holiday season, as you gather with loved ones, know that you, as part of the MedicAlert family, embody the Power of One. Thank you for being part of the MedicAlert community.

From all of us at MedicAlert, we wish you a season of health, joy, and moments with those who matter most.

Member Spotlight: Rick Evans

Rick Evans has been a dedicated MedicAlert member since 1968 after a severe allergic reaction to penicillin at age four led his family to seek emergency protection for his complex health needs. He humorously describes himself as “allergic to life.” Rick faces a wide range of life-threatening allergies, including penicillin, many food groups, and insect stings.

Over the years MedicAlert has been his lifeline, providing critical information during emergencies when he couldn’t tell emergency personnel about his medical conditions. At 14, a bee sting led to an anaphylactic reaction, and bystanders used his MedicAlert bracelet to get him urgent help. A car accident at 16 reinforced the importance of his MedicAlert necklace, allowing emergency responders to provide the right care on the spot.

Reflecting on these experiences, Rick says:

“MedicAlert has saved my life more than once. It speaks for me when I can’t.”

Throughout his life, Rick has relied on MedicAlert to communicate his extensive medical history during emergencies, even as he moved frequently as part of a military family. Today, Rick uses multiple MedicAlert IDs – including bracelets, necklaces, a wallet card, and seat belt cover – so that in an emergency, MedicAlert is always there to protect him.

Now settled in Michigan with his wife and son, Rick finds peace of mind knowing that MedicAlert continues to grow, adding new QR code technology to its medical IDs while keeping the same life-saving assurance he’s trusted for nearly six decades. Read Rick’s full story here.

Exciting News!

MedicAlert receives grant from Walter A. & Charlotte Soule Family Foundation.

We’re thrilled to announce a generous grant from the Walter A. and Charlotte Soule Family Foundation. For over 20 years, the Soule Family Foundation has partnered with MedicAlert by sponsoring free medical IDs and services for at-risk children. This year, they extended the opportunity for MedicAlert to apply for a one-time capability building grant.

With this new grant, we’ll expand two vital initiatives:

Protecting Individuals with Alzheimer's, Autism, and Dementia

People with cognitive disorders like dementia or autism often wander from safety, a dangerous behavior that can lead to tragic results. Through our Safe & Found™️ program, MedicAlert partners with local authorities to help ensure a safe return home for loved ones who have wandered. This grant allows us to offer MedicAlert protection to more people and communities facing Alzheimer’s.

Expanding First Responder Training

With this funding, we’ll enhance and expand MedicAlert’s training and resources for a new generation of first responders: EMTs, fire departments, and law enforcement. Our goal is to equip these emergency care providers with all the MedicAlert tools and information they need to give you  life-saving care when it’s needed most. Read more below about how one of the ways we’re bringing this initiative to life!

We’re deeply grateful to the Soule Family Foundation for this generous gift.

Introducing: Everyday Heroes

MedicAlert Foundation is excited to announce a new initiative celebrating the bravery of first responders who put their lives on the line everyday.

First responders are essential partners to MedicAlert. We rely on first responders to deliver the life-saving care you need in an emergency. And first responders rely on MedicAlert for the vital health information they need to make life-saving decisions in the field.

Everyday Heroes recognizes first responders’ courageous, life-saving actions and amplifies vital voices and stories from the field. It will also reinforce MedicAlert’s partnership in emergency care.

Today, as a new generation steps into these critical roles, it’s essential they have the tools and knowledge to respond confidently to emergencies. This initiative will provide updated training for first responders, ensuring they are familiar with our life-saving services and innovative QR code products.

By equipping first responders with vital medical information for their patients, we empower them to provide safer, faster, and more accurate care to those in need.

An important part of this initiative will be a new Continuing Education course for first responders so they can learn about MedicAlert while getting credit towards their ongoing education requirements. In addition, we’re developing specific resources and materials for EMTs, law enforcement, firefighters, and emergency room personnel.

Stay tuned! This initiative kicks off in earnest in 2025 and continues through the first several months of the new year. We’ll be sharing first responders’ stories and showing how they use MedicAlert in the field. A significant portion of this initiative is funded by the Soule Family Foundation Grant.
