National Women's Health week

20th Annual National Women's Health week
May 12th through May 18th, 2019

Millions of women are taking steps to improve their health. This week serves as a reminder for women to make their health a priority and build positive health habits for life. MedicAlert Foundation wants to also encourage women to be as healthy as possible.

You can start your journey to better health by following these simple tips:

1. Exercise Daily
For at least an hour. You should have some sort of moderate physical activity in your everyday life. Go for a walk, play with your grandchildren or take some laps in the pool.

2. Eat the Right Foods and Portion Each Meal
Try to plan out eating six smaller portions a day, rather than having three large meals. You will be able to burn calories throughout the day.

3. Keep Track of Calories and Food Intake Per Day
How many calories you eat in a day will be helpful in planning out your physical exercise.

4. Be Sure to Get Sleep
It is crucial to get enough sleep to recharge the body's batteries. Six to eight hours of sleep will keep the body going throughout the day. If needed take a 30 minute nap during the day.

5. Stay Motivated
An important key to being in shape is to set goals and stay positive! Then you will be able to push yourself to getting and staying healthy.
