Terms and Conditions

The following terms and conditions apply to all MedicAlert members and use of MedicAlert products.

Warranty

Product Warranty

All products are thoroughly tested and inspected and come with a 90 day warranty on manufacturer defects from the date of shipment. Please review the purchased items carefully for any defects or errors and report them to us as quickly as possible. Warranty does not cover: repairs made by anyone other than our skilled jewelry team; products damaged from normal wear; tarnishing of non-coated silver, or scratching of the emblem, chain and attachments; damage resulting from misuse or accidental handling; lost/misplaced products; and changes in engraved information after engraved product is approved. MedicAlert Foundation offers repair services for nominal fees. Please call Customer Service at 1-800-432-5378 to request a quote. For warranty service, securely package and mail your ID via insured freight to: MedicAlert Customer Satisfaction Department, 5226 Pirrone Court, Salida, CA 95368. Please include your name, ID number, mailing address, phone number and service you wish to receive.

Allergic Skin Reaction Warranty

Customers reporting allergic skin reactions may exchange their MedicAlert product for a more suitable replacement within 30 days of shipment.

Resizing Warranty

We offer resizing of most chain link bracelets within 30 days from the shipping date as we value the importance of your product fitting
comfortably and safely. If you have a sizing issue after the 30 days, please contact us for resizing options and associated fees. Resizing is not available for the following products: Stretch Band Bracelets, Glass Beaded Bracelets, Swarovski Elements® Crystal Bracelets, Sports Bands, Silicone Bands, Titanium Bracelets & Necklaces, Leather Bracelets, Watches, Necklace Chains, Elastic Bands and Paracords. Additional products not listed here may not be resizable. Please contact us to confirm your specific medical ID’s resizing options. For resizing service, securely package and mail your ID via insured freight to: MedicAlert Customer Satisfaction Department, 5226 Pirrone Court, Salida, CA 95368. Please include your name, ID number, mailing address, phone number and service you wish to receive.

Engraving Warranty

Should you notice any engraving issues, please contact us. Once the product is engraved and shipped, it is non-refundable but you can exchange it for a same valued product within 30 days if there are major defects. MedicAlert warrants they will make a reasonable number of attempts to contact individuals who submit incomplete paperwork that prevent us from receiving approval on an engraved product. If no approval is received within 30 days then MedicAlert’s trained specialists will complete the engraving on behalf of the individual. There are no refunds on those products where the engraving is completed by MedicAlert’s specialists. Self-selected engraving through the website is not corrected or changed, therefore MedicAlert is not responsible for inaccurate engraving of these products and does not offer free replacement. Personalized engraving is warranted against fading for 90 days from date of shipment. *Please note that shipping fees associated with warranty service are the responsibility of the customer.

Exchanges and Refunds

Product Exchanges

To exchange your product, we recommend wrapping the ID in a protective layer of bubble wrap or sending it in a padded envelope to prevent damage while going through the postal service. Please include a note indicating the reason for return. We are not responsible for loss or damage of the ID through the postal service, and we recommend you insure the package to protect your investment. *Please note that shipping fees associated with warranty service are the responsibility of the customer.

Refunds

MedicAlert products are personalized with a unique ID number that corresponds to the individual requesting our services or products and cannot be transferred to another individual, altered, or sold. MedicAlert products and services are non-refundable. All sales are final.

Product Details, Care, and Safety

Certificate of Authenticity

MedicAlert Foundation guarantees that all items produced and marked to indicate all Gold or Sterling Silver are manufactured in accordance with industry regulations.

Re-Engraving Service

In most cases, 14K Gold and Sterling Silver (without Rhodium coating) can be re-engraved in the event changes to your medical information are required. Space limitations may apply. These changes are not covered by the warranty and the re-engraving fee is $40 (plus shipping costs). For warranty information or to schedule re-engraving, call 1-800-432-5378.

Leather Care and Cleaning

Place a small amount of gentle, moisturizing bath soap on a damp cloth and work it into a light lather. Rub the damp cloth on the leather without getting the leather too wet. Using a fresh damp cloth, wipe off the leather. Do not use water to rinse the leather. Polish the item with a dry towel. After it has dried completely, treat the leather with a leather conditioner.

Sterling Silver Care and Cleaning

Maintain the brilliance of your Sterling Silver medical ID with a regular schedule of cleaning and be careful not to use an abrasive sponge, cloth or cleaner on your emblem as these will scratch the surface. Silver cleaning solutions offer the best results and are especially helpful in cleaning the chain and clasp quickly.

Swarovski Elements® Care and Cleaning

Beaded or strung jewelry is considerably more fragile than chain bracelets. Store your jewelry in a soft pouch or a padded box separate from other jewelry to avoid scratches. An occasional buffing with a soft cloth will help maintain its original finish. Avoid exposing the bracelet to chemicals unnecessarily. We recommend removing your SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS® bracelet before swimming or heavy exercise.

Silver Tarnishing Warning

A high percentage of diabetics and individuals taking an anticoagulant have experienced tarnishing of the non-rhodium-coated silver products. For these customers, we recommend selecting a rhodium-coated silver product or another metal type.

Choking Warning

All MedicAlert necklaces and beaded products with small parts can be a choking hazard and are not intended for children 12 & under.

Proposition 65 Warning

Crystals manufactured by Swarovski® contain trace amounts of lead, a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer and/or birth defects or other reproductive harm. These products are safe to wear on the skin; however, at no time are the products we sell intended to be ingested in any manner. MedicAlert does not market these products to anyone under the age of 12.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) and Health Savings Accounts (HSAs)

MedicAlert medical ID products are qualified reimbursable expenses under FSAs and HSAs. For specific information on medical FSAs, talk to your human resources department or tax specialist.

Tax Deductions

MedicAlert Foundation is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization. Federal Tax ID #94-1494446. Donations to the Foundation are tax-deductible in the U.S. to the extent permitted by law.
