Emergency responders and medical personnel are trained to recognize MedicAlert IDs and call our 24/7 emergency response line. The MedicAlert team relays your vital medical information within seconds, to ensure you receive safe, effective, and quick treatment. MedicAlert may also send electronic records to the hospital on your behalf and ensures your emergency contact persons are notified.
MedicAlert IDs are engraved with the most critical health information, and serve as a vital link to our member’s Emergency Medical Information Record (EMIR℠). This record is much like a personal health record and contains critical information such as:
- Medical conditions
- Prescription and over-the-counter medications and dosages
- Allergies
- Implanted medical devices
- Emergency contact persons
- Physician information
- Health Insurance information
How MedicAlert Works
In an emergency, first responders check your pulse areas in search of a MedicAlert ID. The responder reads the engraved information and locates MedicAlert's 800 number. |
|
| First responders then call the MedicAlert 24-hour emergency response center for additional health information to ensure you receive quick, safe, and effective treatment. |
|
| MedicAlert then works with the emergency responder to determine where you are being transported. We can fax your medical record to the treating hospital and contact your loved ones to ensure you are reunited. |
