John Szold

John Szold founded Planning for Succession Inc., The Unsearch Firm™, drawing on a 30+-year multi-industry career and continues to be guided by the underlying philosophy, “If it’s not fun, why do it?” His years of experience in the field of organizational development have been driven by the concept that people should enjoy their work and be suited to their jobs.

Prior to establishing the firm, with offices in Miami and Toronto, Mr. Szold was managing director of Caliper Canada, in Toronto where he led the psychometric assessment company’s management-consulting practice.

Mr. Szold has notable retail management, franchising and marketing experience including having introduced Ben & Jerry’s ice cream across Canada and developed social marketing partnerships with national non-profits.  As Vice President Merchandising for the Liquor Control Board of Ontario he directed the merchandising and procurement functions of the world’s largest liquor retailer.

Mr. Szold has been an Adjunct Professor in the Institute of Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto since 2004.

Mr. Szold has also taught in the MBA program at the Schulich School of Business, Canada’s top-rated business school.  He holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business and has completed the Institute of Corporate Directors’ Directors Education Program, an intensive director certification course.

Mr. Szold is the former Chair of the Board of the million-member Canadian MedicAlert Foundation.
