Anna J. Kiger, DNP, DSC, MBA, MSN, RN, NEA-BC
Anna is the Chief Nurse Officer for Sutter Health a not-for-profit healthcare system in Sacramento, California. She is accountable for professional nursing leadership, clinical nursing practice, education, and nursing research for the entire system.
Along with the nursing leadership team, Anna ensures that the highest possible standards of clinical effectiveness, cost effectiveness, and patient, physician and staff satisfaction are achieved. She has significant responsibility for refinement of processes and models of care, patient safety, and patient satisfaction, as well as for professional nursing practice, nursing strategic plan development and implementation, and care strategy alignment with all disciplines.
Prior to her current position, Anna was Chief Nurse Officer & Vice President of Patient Care Services for Tenet Health Care a for-profit hospital and health services company operating over 80 acute care hospitals, over 400 outpatient and ambulatory practices and nine international business units. Prior to being Tenet’s system CNO she was a senior director of patient care services for the southern states and Philadelphia regions within Tenet and initially Tenet’s regional director of clinical quality improvement based in the New Orleans market. Before joining Tenet in 1999, Anna was the associate vice president for nursing at Tulane University Hospital & Clinics in New Orleans, La., a 342-bed academic medical center. At Tulane, she was responsible for a nursing staff of over 650 full-time employees.
Anna is a member of the editorial boards for the Journal of Nursing Administration (JONA) and the American Society for Health Care Risk Management’s Journal of Healthcare Risk Management.
