Protect and Save Lives

MedicAlert Foundation® is a non-profit, charitable, and membership-based organization dedicated to the well being of others. Founded in 1956 by Dr. Marion and Chrissie Collins, the foundation's mission is to protect and save lives by serving as the global information link between members and emergency responders during medical emergencies and other times of need. As a non-profit organization, MedicAlert Foundation is governed by a volunteer board of directors, comprised of highly respected national leaders from the healthcare profession and business.

Saving Lives With 24/7 Emergency Response

A team of MedicAlert call center operators are committed to the foundation's goal and to delivering outstanding service to healthcare professionals when relaying medical information. Call center staff undergo a thorough training program in order to assist with:

  • Appropriate documentation of member's medical information.
  • Excellent service to healthcare professionals who utilize our service in an emergency.
  • Documenting member’s Emergency Medical Information Record (EMIR®)
  • Selecting accurate medical ID engravings adhering to medical terminology standards and abbreviations.

In 2012, MedicAlert Foundation earned recognition for successful call center operation by being named one of  the Top 100 Small Call Centers in America by BenchmarkPortal. MedicAlert was recognized for excelling in the areas of operational efficiency and effectiveness. Healthcare professionals calling MedicAlert's 24/7 Emergency Response line will always speak to a live operator. Customer service operators are available 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays PST.
