About MedicAlert + Safe Return
MedicAlert + Alzheimer’s Association Safe Return is a 24-hour nationwide emergency response service for individuals with Alzheimer’s or a related dementia who wander or have a medical emergency. We provide 24-hour, nationwide assistance, no matter when or where the person is reported missing.

Live 24-hour Emergency Response Services
Our onsite Emergency Response Center is staffed by medically trained personnel 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We communicate your loved one's vital medical information to emergency responders as required anytime, anywhere, in over 140 languages.
Live 24-hour Caregiver Notification Service
Our caregiver notification service will notify you or other designated contacts after we have communicated your loved one's vital information to emergency responders. This service lets you know of the situation and where to meet your loved one.
Emergency Medical Information Record (EMIR®)
A comprehensive emergency medical information record with unlimited updates supported by our trained member services associates. You can feel confident that each update will be reviewed by our trained staff who understand the importance of listing the right medical conditions and medications. You can update your loved one's information any time you login to their secure online account, 24 hours a day.
Emergency Wallet Card
The wallet card lists additional medical information and contacts, which you may want to share with your loved one's doctor(s) and emergency responders so that you don't need to worry about all of the necessary information. Your loved one's wallet card is personalized and includes our live 24-hour emergency response number.
MedicAlert Medical ID
High-quality MedicAlert medical IDs are recognized by emergency responders around the world and include free personalized engraving. We warranty the workmanship and material of your loved one's MedicAlert medical ID for one full year from the date of purchase. If you have any problems with your loved one's MedicAlert medical ID, send it back to us and we'll repair it.
Wandering Services
The 24-hour care consultation provided by master’s level counselors and caregiver notification services give you peace of mind knowing that you will receive assistance when a person wanders or is lost.
How the service works
If an individual with Alzheimer’s or a related dementia wanders and becomes lost, caregivers can call the emergency response line to report it. A community support network will be activated, including local Alzheimer's Association chapters and law enforcement agencies, to help reunite the family member or caregiver with the person who wandered.
If a citizen or emergency personnel finds the member, they can call the toll-free number engraved on the member’s ID. MedicAlert + Safe Return will notify the member’s emergency contacts, ensuring the person is safely returned home.
